ASSIST! to Independence is an American Indian owned and operated Center for Independent Living. The Center provides Information & Referral Services, Independent Living Skills Training, Transition services to youth with disabilities, transition from institutions back to home communities for people with severe disabilities, Peer Mentoring services, and Advocacy/Self Advocacy/System change Advocacy on tribal lands. Services are meant to empower people with disabilities on tribal lands and allow them to live independently in their own homes and in their own communities.
Some of the services that ATI has provided as been to partner with other non profits to help people with severe disabilities obtain residential ADA ramps, grab bars, and other assistive aids so people can continue to live in independently and safely in their own homes. ATI also completes home assessment for ADA residential needs and advocates for residents with disabilities so they can obtain services that allow them continue or transition home from institutions and live independently in their own homes. ATI also provides different IL Skills education and training that allows individuals with disabilities to learn how to live independent with with disabling conditions while they continue to live in their own homes.
