Adventures for Hopi, a Project of Paaqavi Incorporated
Adventures for Hopi is is a developmental Adventure Education program serving Native American youth and young adults on the Hopi Reservation. "A4H" was created in 2014 with a specific focus on on youth engagement through adventure pursuits such as climbing, backpacking, kayaking, and canyoneering. We blend a sense of risk in adventure pursuits with the therapeutic aspects that being in nature provides.
This year, Adventures for Hopi is leveraging our network of supporters to help the Southwest Conservation Corps Ancestral Lands program in asking for donations of camping equipment! The Ancestral Lands Program fields Indigenous youth and young adults from Hopi, Zuni, Navajo, and Acoma on conservation projects throughout the Southwest and beyond! An identified barrier to employment has been obtaining quality gear to be able to work on our public and tribal lands. Americorps Crew Members receive a small living stipend and often times purchasing the equipment needed to work can be a burden to participants who often provide for their families with this stipend. If participants can purchase the equipment, they often buy lower quality equipment that is destroyed in the first few weeks. Please join us in supporting the Ancestral Program by either donating decent quality equipment or by donating to Adventures for Hopi this Arizona Gives Day! All proceeds will go to support Ancestral Lands Crews as the A4H program!
We accept decent quality gear that has at least 3 seasons of life in the field left in them. You can mail gear donations to:
