Achieving My Purpose

Achieving My Purpose's mission statement is to help young women of color create life plans that lead to fulfilling careers, healthy personal lives and rewarding relationshps while providng meaningful contributions to their communities.

Achieving My Purpose was established in 2013 to empower young women, ages 18-30 to embrace their purpose. AMP serves, primarily women of color, with the goal of enhancing their abilities so they are able to take full advantage of their talents, career interests and potential healthy relationships, thereby producing self-sufficient, contributing citizens of their community. AMP recognizes that women experience life challenges and with proper guidance, support and access to resources, they will be more self-confident and have the courage to make good decisions.

Overall Mentoring Program that includes a) one-to-one matching of young women to seasoned women; b) monthly wellness workshops called POW-HER, Purpose of Wellness for her, focusing on six wellness areas: Physical, Emotional, Social, Occupational, Financial and Spiritual; c) Intimate sharing circles designed to give participants an opportunity to discuss issues and breakdown obstacles in an intimate safe environment; d) Leadershp Academy that addresses personal, professional and community development; and d) Field Experiences.

Annually, AMP publishes a Celebration of Women book highlighting the accomplishments of successful women of color. These women serve as potential mentors, role models and a vision of what can be.
