BreakDown International

A nonprofit organization

Educate. Empower. Enlighten. BreakDown Uganda utilizes community awareness and education, skills training, and addresses the needs of the whole person to transform the lives of youth and young adults.

We are currently in a capital campaign to raise the remaining funds to fully scale our self-sustainable ministry model in Bakka, Uganda. This model will support our Skilling Center (called Tandika or "start up" in the local language) which will skill 2,000-3,000 youth each year in approximately a dozen different skills, supported by corresponding businesses.

Uganda has the world's youngest population with over 78% below the age of 30. Uganda also has one of the highest youth unemployment rates in Sub-Saharan Africa, with 83% of 15-24 year olds being unemployed. Since most youth only have an elementary level education, this leaves countless children with no skills and few options for basic survival. This leads to high levels of prostitution, trafficking, gangs, theft, drug dealing or worse.

BreakDown Uganda is a grassroots organization dedicated to empowering the youth with education and skills that will transform their lives. Their "Tandika Project," which means Start Up, was launched in August of 2018, and graduated 350 students prior to being shut down by COVID.

The Tandika Project is already a huge success, and its story is just beginning! With funds raised through Arizona Gives Day we hope to create the next wave of awareness that will bring us to the finish line of completing this building project! We need your help! Please consider a gift to this life-changing work.
