Birds are disappearing across North America—nearly 3 billion birds have been lost since 1970. In Northern Arizona, the forests, rivers, and deserts around Flagstaff and the Verde Valley provide critical habitat for hundreds of species. Protecting these places—and inspiring people to care about birds—has never been more important.

For more than 50 years, Northern Arizona Audubon Society has been connecting people with birds and protecting the places birds need to survive. We work across Northern Arizona to inspire conservation through education, stewardship, and community science.

Our Impact

Each year, the Northern Arizona Audubon Society:

• Leads over 100 bird walks and educational programs for over 1000 people
• Stewards bird habitat and sanctuary sites across Northern Arizona, including Bubbling Ponds Preserve, Sedona Wetlands, Kachina Wetlands and Picture Canyon
• Engages volunteers in community science and bird monitoring including our Pinyon Jay monitoring program, Christmas Bird Count and other bird surveys
• Supports students and early-career conservationists through grants
  
• Reaches thousands of people through events, digital media, and outreach to promote awareness of bird conservation in the area

These programs inspire people to care about birds while generating knowledge and action that helps protect them.
