At the Center for Biological Diversity, we believe that human well-being is deeply linked to the natural world — to our co-existence with a vast diversity of wild animals and plants. We work to secure a future for all species big and small, from elusive jaguars and ocelots to Arizona’s endemic Wilcox Playa tiger beetle. Because we want future generations to inherit a world where the wild is still alive.

Bold action for wildlife and wild places

Headquartered in Tucson, the Center has spent 37 years confronting the biggest threats to biodiversity — from habitat destruction and climate change to pesticide use and public lands mismanagement. Our approach is bold and proven: combining cutting-edge science, relentless legal action, and strategic advocacy to win protections for wildlife and wild places when no one else could.

So far, we’ve helped secure protections for over 770 species and over half a billion acres of habitat.

Relentless advocacy, real results

For decades, the Center has taken on the toughest fights — and won. But with biodiversity in crisis, a changing planet, and an administration that lacks conservation ethic, our work is more urgent than ever. We’re taking legal action nearly every four days, and we need your help.

Together, we can ensure that Arizona — and our planet — remains wild for generations to come.

Why Arizona matters

Arizona is more than our headquarters — it’s at the heart of our work. Its deserts, forests, and grasslands support an extraordinary diversity of life, with over half of the state’s lands belonging to the public.

But these ecosystems are under increasing pressure.

Throughout Arizona, livestock grazing is degrading critical riparian habitat — stripping vegetation to bare soil, blocking tree regeneration, and polluting streams with sediment and cattle waste. A massive copper mining project will destroy over 16,000 acres of wildlife habitat in Tonto National Forest. We're taking legal action against all of it.

For decades, we’ve defended Arizona’s wildlife and wild places. With your gift this Arizona Gives Day, we can ensure that this work is never abandoned.
