The Center for Community Mediation & Facilitation

The Center for Community Mediation and Facilitation’s mission is to create opportunities for skillful communication and conflict transformation through mediation, facilitation, training, and community partnerships. Our vision is that Southern Arizona is a national model for how communities engage in cooperative conflict resolution and respectful dialogue around challenging issues.

Foundational to our work is the premise that if people can connect through respectful and civil conversation, finding common ground and enhanced understanding of each other’s needs, fears, and perspectives, conflicts can be avoided and deescalated, and violence can be avoided. We do this by offering meditation services and training, teaching and role modeling dialogue circle and listening circle facilitation, and teaching de-escalation and non-violent communication techniques. Our training happens at the individual and small group levels, requiring continued training, practice and application. Our goal is to offer our services as broadly as possible to anyone who wants or needs to learn effective conflict resolution skills.  

The community need for our services greatly outweighs our current ability to advertise and deliver services. Currently an all-volunteer organization, we have robust plans to build our capacity to meet the community’s needs, including building staff capacity, strengthening community partnerships, and increasing our grant revenue to expand our reach.
