2nd Chance Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit specializing in high-stakes rescue. We step in where others can't, taking in dogs with chronic conditions and complex medical needs that put them at the highest risk for euthanasia.
Operating a specialized sanctuary on a modest budget requires a community of supporters. From life-sustaining medications for our permanent residents to emergency surgeries for new arrivals, your support directly funds the "second chance" in our name. Join us in building a better life for Arizona’s most vulnerable seniors—every dollar brings a dog one step closer to healing.
"2nd Chance Dog Rescue, led by Diana, is truly extraordinary. I have fostered many, many dogs for 2nd Chance Dog Rescue over the years and have honestly lost count, but one I will never forget is Kiwi.
Kiwi was placed on the euthanasia list at the shelter because she was shut down, terrified, extremely underweight, and suffering from multiple medical issues, including kidney disease. Diana knew she had to save her. I became Kiwi’s hospice foster, and because of Diana’s dedication, Kiwi received full medical care, love, and every resource she needed.
What was meant to be the end of her story turned into a full year of happiness. Kiwi blossomed into a loving, joyful dog who finally knew what it felt like to be safe and cherished.
That is what makes this rescue so special. Diana never gives up on the ones others overlook especially seniors. Every dog is given care, dignity, and love, no matter how much time they have left.
I am so grateful to be part of 2nd Chance Dog Rescue and to witness the lives Diana saves every single day." ~Tina Barton
Snoopy's Rescue:
"I was at work at Intel, and saw this video and story posted around our company, about the rescue of a dog that had been living on the Intel campus grounds for months. I watched it and was so moved by it, I had to know who the rescue organization was, because I had to be part of it. I contacted Diana at 2nd Chance Dog Rescue, who had worked so hard to rescue Snoopy, and have been a volunteer ever since. Snoopy went on to be adopted by a loving family, was renamed Caesar, and lived for several more years before passing peacefully with his family. I love the dogs in this rescue and am glad to be a part of it." ~ Tammy Cooper Brown
"Whether you are looking for a rescue to support financially, adopt from, or foster through, I cannot recommend 2nd Chance enough!! I have fostered 13 dogs, Gramps being my latest and first one through 2nd Chance. The level of love, care, support, and dedication Diana has for her dogs AND fosters is at an entirely different level than any other rescues I’ve fostered for. 2nd Chance Dog Rescue is AMAZING! 300/10

"My uncle passed unexpectedly in the fall of 2023 leaving behind his precious companion, Midnight. We were left uncertain of Midnight's fate but 2nd Chance proved to be her saving grace. Diana and her husband go above and beyond for all of the animals in their care. I take comfort in knowing that Midnight is just as loved as she ever was and enjoy seeing her Facebook updates." ~Whitney Franquist
"I simply love this rescue! They care so much about the senior pups. I’ve fostered for them and they always make sure to provide all the supplies
the pups need and more. I also love that from the moment a pup is rescued they get a full medical work-up. All their needs are met. They are provided with medical treatments, food and enrichment supplies, security and comfort, lots of love, and dignity at the end of their life. Thank you, Diana, for caring so much! I know your heart breaks each and every time you lose a senior pup, but that doesn’t stop you from continuing to save lives." ~ Diana Apolinar
